Summer! More hours of sunshine, traveling, hiking, BBQ’s, swimming… endless activities, I love summer. But I also love fall, it’s an opportunity to hit the reset button, transition to a little more ‘downtime’ and create new routines. As the summer winds down it’s also a good time to hit the reset button for your skin as summer definitely takes a toll.
By the end of the season skin tends to be flaky, dehydrated and hyperpigmentation & dark spots are more pronounced. To get your skin ready for fall start by evaluating your current regimen and your skins needs.
Don’t stop using SPF
You should wear a broad spectrum SPF everyday. The majority of damage to our skin is from the sun and this damage is cumulative. Meaning the damage occurs in our day-to-day life, things like walking the dog, getting the mail and driving. Protecting your skin daily will prevent damage.
Intelligent Elixirs Tinted SPF
Exfoliating your skin has many benefits. It clears away dead skin cells, dirt and debris, while also increasing cellular turnover and the absorption of treatment serums.

In the summer you may use a lighter moisturizer. However, as the temperature drops you may notice skin feeling a bit more dry and dehydrated. Consider using a heavier moisturizer or ‘boosting’ your current moisturizer by adding a few drops of facial oil to it.

Sun is a major contributor to hyperpigmentation. Incorporating a brightening product for a few months can be very beneficial to help lighten dark spots and brighten your overall complexion. Tip: Never spot treat with a brightening product as it will cause a ‘halo’ effect – treat the entire face.

Schedule a professional treatment
Getting a professional treatment is a great way to jumpstart your fall regimen.
If your skin is feeling dull and lackluster I would recommend a hydrating facial coupled with microdermabrasion or microblading to clear the surface of the skin and impart needed moisture. There is also a specialized treatment called the HydraFacial, it exfoliates & hydrates the skin in one treatment.
If dark spots and hyperpigmentation are your concern consider a brightening facial, chemical peel or IPL.
