Arm Flab Facts:
Nobody wants it. Everybody gets it, especially women. Our arms serve as a bit of a fat depot and thus fat tends to hang on in this area… aka, it’s super stubborn.
Awesome. Now what?
To get rid of it, or more realistically, to store less of it, we need a comprehensive strategy:
#1 Reduce overall body fat AND
#2 Perform effective upper body toning exercises
In this piece I’m not diving in to #1 above but it does require being aware of your overall nutrition and doing some cardio. Instead, let’s focus on #2 with some of my favorite upper body toning exercises pictured below.
Before beginning it’s important to do a reality check. Muscles atrophy as we age. Let’s shift our expectations away from Hollywood “guns” and more towards developing arms we feel strong and confident with when wearing a sleeveless top…ok, or even just less wiggle!
These exercises are focused on the arms but they are dynamic so your lower body and core are working simultaneously….because why not?! When determining what pound weights to use, a general rule of thumb is to use heavier weights for biceps and chest exercises and lighter weights for tricep and shoulder exercises.
Let’s get started!
